This has been a sad year for us. In August we lost Andrew Barter who tragically died very unexpectedly, and then in early November we heard that Ron Wheeler had also died after a long battle with cancer. Both Andrew and Ron were excellent solo cornets and we miss them terribly.
Anyway we got through the summer engagements with lots of help from our friends at Ross-on-Wye band and some of them enjoyed themselves so much that they've started coming to practices regularly!
We also had a very good 40th anniversary party on 26th July at the Royal Oak and were joined by lots of old friends.
The Monmouthshire Show was a big success for us but again we were joined by several players from Ross, Cinderford and Tidenham. Thank you all, we couldn't have done it without you!
We have our usual Christmas engagements coming up in December (see Engagements page) and we hope the New Year will bring us lots of people who would love to play in a Brass Band.
Graham Probert had a knee replacement in June and after a dodgy start he is now back in full fettle re-organizing the band cupboard and the players as well given half a chance!
Hope to see you all around Monmouth in the next few weeks.
